How much research does a matched applicant have on average?
Per 2024 NRMP data,
For matched diagnostic radiology applicants:
Mean number of research experiences was 3.5 (DO) , 4.4 (MD), 4.6 (US-IMG ), and 3.2 (Non-US IMG).
Mean number of abstracts, presentations, and publications were 7.1 (DO), 12.0 (MD), 15.8 (US IMG), and 20.4 (Non-US IMG).
For matched interventional radiology applicants:
Mean number of research experiences was 4.0 (DO), 4.7 (MD), 3.0 (US IMG), and 2.4 (Non-US IMG).
Mean number of abstracts, presentations, and publications were 6.3 (DO), 15.8 (MD), 6.0 (US IMG), and 16.1 (Non-US IMG).
Note: 2024 NRMP Data for matched IR IMGs reflects a small sample size, which may affect interpretation.
This data does not include what type of research (see below) was completed and whether it was specific to radiology.
